Setup Machinist CNC

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Setup Machinist to join our team. This role is ideal for a machinist who thrives in a low-volume, high-mix environment with constant machine setups and short production runs. The successful candidate must be capable of setting up CNC mills and/or lathes independently, with minimal to no supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform complete and independent setup of CNC mills and/or lathes, including loading programs, setting tools, and dialing in fixtures.
Operate CNC mills and/or lathes until job completion.
Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
Inspect machined parts and make necessary offsets or adjustments to ensure part accuracy.
Troubleshoot and resolve setup-related issues with minimal assistance.
Collaborate with programming and quality teams to continuously improve setup processes and reduce downtime.
Maintain clean and organized work area in accordance with company 5S and safety standards.
Qualifications:
Proven ability to set up complex jobs independently from start to finish.
Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, and workholding.
Familiarity with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work from verbal instructions and production paperwork when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience setting up 3, 4 and 5 axis mills and or mill-turn lathes.
Background in low-volume, high-mix job shop environments.
CADCAM programming experience of any kind.
Physical Requirements:
Standing for 8 hours per day.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Walking, bending and kneeling.
